The most notable feature of the phone is its design. The body is stunningly thin at 7.1mm and the back is made out of Kevlar which further makes the phone look and feel like a premium device. The phone is very resistant to abuse due to its display being protected by Gorilla Glass and the back being made out of the aforementioned Kevlar. Also, the phone is splash resistant. The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display isn’t of the Plus variety like the Galaxy S II and hence uses a PenTile matrix which isn’t as sharp as the S II. However, the higher pixel density does somewhat make up for this. The screen performed very well with infinite contrast and excellent colours; however it was a bit dim. Still, the display was better than any S-LCD that we have used. There is 16GB of built-in memory along with a memory card slot for additional storage. The processor is a dual-core unit running at 1.2GHz and has 1GB of RAM along with a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The performance of the phone was excellent, with minimal load times and a smooth interface. Also, all apps in the Android Market were compatible with the phone. The phone’s 8MP camera took decent photos and video, but quality was a bit lower than competing handsets like the Galaxy S II and iPhone 4S. The RAZR XT910 is unique in that it supports Motorola’s Lapdock 500 accessory which turns it into a 14-inch netbook with a full keyboard and running the desktop version of Mozilla Firefox. Overall, the RAZR is an excellent phone with unique features mixed with powerful hardware. However, choosing the RAZR over the competition depends on user preferences. The Galaxy S II doesn’t have the looks of the RAZR or a built-in microHDMI port but has slightly faster hardware and although its screen has a lower resolution, it is of the sharper Super AMOLED Plus variety. The HTC Sensation XE is another alternative which gives up the AMOLED display in return for Beats branding and premium bundled iBeats earphones for music lovers. However, none of the competitors can match the stunningly thin and exquisite design of the Droid RAZR.
